French Observatory of Food Quality

The French Observatory of Food Quality (Oqali) was created on February 11, 2008 by the Ministries of Agriculture, Health and Consumer Affairs as part of the French National Nutrition and Health Program 2006-2010 (PNNS 2) (press release of February 11, 2008).

Its purpose is to centralize and process data related to nutrition (e.g. nutritional composition, claims) and socio-economic factors (average prices, market shares and consumption levels) in order to ensure the surveillance of the food supply for processed foods in France.

The implementation of OQALI has been entrusted to the INRA (French National Institute for Agricultural Research) and AFSSA (French Food Safety Agency (Afssa).
