The joint action « Best Re-MaP” (Joint Action on Implementation of Validated Best Practices in Nutrition), coordinated by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) in Slovenia and co-financed by the third Health Program of European Union (2014-2020) has been launched on 1st October 2020 and ended on September 30, 2023. It gathered 36 partners from 24 European countries who work in public health.

Its goal was to fight against obesity, mainly for children. Anses was heading this project for France with the General Directorate of Health (DGS) and Santé publique France (SpF). Anses was in charge of the section dedicated to monitoring the food nutritional composition to allow reformulations, and with the collaboration of DGS and SpF, Anses contributed to elaborate good practices in terms of advertisements for children and teenagers. As part of the joint action, information available on food packaging, especially for 5 priority food categories have been collected between 2021 and 2023 in 19 European countries, following the Oqali model. Oqali’s classification has been adjusted to correspond to the European market and has been transferred to partners to be used by other countries. The final conference of the joint action was held in the French ministry of Health in Paris, on September 18, 2023.

You can notice that “Best-ReMap” is the extension of JANPA (JANPA (Joint action on Nutrition and Physical Activity)) which was considering nutrition and physical activity, was coordinated by France (Anses and DGS) and implemented between September 2015 and November 2017 and that these actions will continue during the Prevent-NCD Joint Action which will take place between January 2024 and December 2027.
